For those who wish to take their Muay Thai journey to the big stage, Lucky Nine Gym has a specialized program dedicated to preparing students during their transition into becoming a fighter.

Lucky Nine Gym has and continues to grow champions through our proven training strategies.

From 6 years old to adult we have grown students from knowing nothing about the sport to become some of the strongest and technically gifted fighters New Zealand has to offer.

WE OFFER 1 GYM APPRENTICESHIP EVERY 3 MONTHS TO ALL MEMBERS OF ANY AGE

SELECTION & EXPECTATION

Due to the huge amount of time we put in to fighters we want to ensure that you are committed to the teamwork element required of our fight team, we have been let down in the past with "fighters" not doing what we expect as a gym of extremely talented fighters.

You will of had one novice padded fight experience in your time in the Introduction and Sparring classes.

You will ask the two head coaches or they may approach you.

You will spend 3 months in the fight classes Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the Sparring classes, Tuesday and Saturday, and be expected to have a 90% attendance, as well as doing all the out of gym training and be expected to participate in the plyo workout warm ups at gym.

You will be a pad holder for non fight team members in the class and assist with kick shield burn out rounds of fighters. This is so we can work beside you and teach you how to be a great pad holder.

You will clean the gym floors after training on Tuesday and Thursday.

You will help promote the gym weekly on socials if you have them, especially of our shows and also of our fighters and other shows we go to. 

You will be taught how to wrap hands for fights and the fundamentals of matching fighters for events.

You will help corner fighters and be taught what to look for, how to treat cuts etc. 

You will get pads once a week with one of the fight team.

You will help out with the kids classes if needed and welcome new members and work with trial students.

On completion of a 3 month apprenticeship, the student will then join the training roster with Scott on pads 4-8 rounds per class working with Kaitlyn on technical clinch, strength and conditioning routines and diet. You would also start getting put forward for fights. Most importantly you will be a trusted member of the team and we will help with everything needed to help you succeed.
